This year’s legislative session has ended, and ethics reform died on the vine. While some lawmakers had concerns about the substance of legislation aimed at cleaning up the state’s 22-year-old ethics laws, it was political bickering that really destroyed its chances this year. That’s fine with some, who feel an ethics overhaul is a once-in-a-generation opportunity that must be done right.

Muscadet, one of the most food-friendly wines, is made from melon de Bourgogne. An unfamiliar grape to many, it makes for a delicious, crisp white wine with mineral overtones and ocean scents, and can be a charming pairing with seafood, oysters and salads. We’ve never seen a muscadet wine over $20, and they are uniformly rewarding.
People don’t understand nude art models, Mr. Chips says in a genuinely concerned tone. Some people think he’s a porn star, for example. But it’s nothing like that, he says. Mr. Chips is 51 years old. For years, he’s been posing for art students at two different Midlands colleges for $20 an hour. That’s a good side hustle for Mr. Chips, who works in retail and as a night watchman.
