| | | | | | Issue #21.53 :: 12/31/2008 - 01/06/2009Ladies and gentlemen, 2008 has been a rough year. With the exception of closing the book on the Bush administration (which many, though not all, are thrilled about), the news has been almost uniformly negative: stock market collapse, housing meltdown, unemployment headed up with no end in sight. So as we close out the year, there are plenty of reasons to drink. | |

Picture This!
Adopt me! A puppy waits at PETS Inc. for a good home. Christmastime always brings an increase in pet adoptions and purchases. But animal advocates say the holiday season also fuels cruel “puppy mills” that churn out pets and people should avoid contributing to such operations. At 300 Orchard Drive in West Columbia, PETS Inc. has been swamped with potential adoptees as owners unable to afford their animals in the recessionary economy have abandoned them.
